From Trapani to Buenos Aires: Music4D’s Tango Bridges the Distance via Phygital Hub
On Thursday, May 14, teachers and students across two continents will engage in a musical dialogue through Phygital Hub technology, retracing the shared roots of Italy and Argentina.
TRAPANI – The cultural bond between Sicily and Argentina is being revitalized through digital innovation. On Thursday, May 14, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the MUSIC4D network will host an exceptional international connection for an online masterclass titled “The Tango: Italy-Argentina, a Continuous Migration.”
The event features the Antonio Scontrino Conservatory of Trapani in dialogue with the National University of the Arts (UNA) of Buenos Aires. This initiative represents the operational development of a journey that began last August, when a delegation of saxophone students from the Trapani Conservatory traveled to Argentina. That mobility project sparked a close inter-institutional relationship which, thanks to MUSIC4D’s Phygital Hub technology, has now evolved into a permanent training laboratory.
Thursday’s session will serve as a genuine “experiment” to validate a protocol for remote musical activity. Faculty and students will interact in real-time, exploring the common matrices of the two continents’ repertoires with the distinguished support of Maestro Fernando Lerman from Buenos Aires. The masterclass is coordinated by Professor Silvio Zalambani, Professor of Jazz Saxophone, with technical supervision by Professor Roberto Terranova.
The event is part of MUSIC4D, the ambitious PNRR-funded project led by the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo in synergy with the Conservatories of Sicily and Sardinia and university partners UniPa and UniCal. This initiative confirms its strategic mission: transforming the Italian Higher Education in Art and Music (AFAM) system into a connected global ecosystem where musical research and practice merge with the new frontiers of high-performance connectivity.
