MUSIC4D: Sicily’s Musical Soul Conquers Spain with the Debut of “3PIN4D”

MURCIA/CATANIA – Sicilian artistic heritage is transcending national borders to project itself into a futuristic dimension. On Tuesday, March 3rd, at 8:00 PM, the Sala d’Armi of the Real Casino de Murcia will set the stage for the international preview of “3PIN4D.” This event marks a pivotal milestone for MUSIC4D, transforming rigorous musicological research into a sensory experience that seamlessly merges history with virtual reality.

Led by Maestro Gaetano Adorno of the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory of Catania, the operation unfolds as a genuine “treasure hunt” among 19th-century scores. The program features three giants of Catanese composition: Giovanni Pacini, Salvatore Pappalardo, and Pietro Platania. As central figures of the 1800s, these composers are being brought back to audiences through a narrative that highlights their stylistic elegance—a dialogue between Mediterranean lyricism and the complexity of European musical structures.

The Murcia event, titled “Musica de Camara Italiana del Siglo XIX,” goes beyond a standard concert, aiming for a multidisciplinary vision. The program includes the world premieres of Salvatore Pappalardo’s Serenata Op. 3 and String Quintet Op. 25, alongside selected works by Pacini and Platania. The stage will feature a collaboration between the Conservatories of Catania, Murcia, and Castellón de la Plana, joined by distinguished soloists such as Augusto Vismara, David Apellaniz, Gema Guiot, and Agatino Scuderi. The performance will be accessible worldwide via live-stream, an essential tool for the global dissemination of Sicilian culture.

Maestro Adorno emphasizes how the initiative bridges the rediscovery of forgotten scores with the latest languages of virtual reality, transforming past excellence into a living, dynamic, and easily accessible asset. This journey will culminate in April with the highly anticipated inauguration of the “Camera della Musica” (Chamber of Music), a multimedia installation designed to offer a fully immersive experience.

MUSIC4D is a project funded by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), launched in 2024 under the aegis of the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo in synergy with the major music institutions of Southern Italy. Following its Spanish debut, the 3PIN4D tour will return to Sicily on March 20th and 21st at the Bellini Auditorium in Catania, paving the way for the official opening of the virtual space scheduled for the spring.
