Budapest, the example of Music4D at the 25th edition of the AEC international relations coordinators meeting

PALERMO, 15/09/2025 – There will also be a dedicated session on the Music4D project during the 25th Annual Meeting of International Relations Coordinators (IRC) of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires (AEC), hosted in Budapest at the prestigious Liszt Academy of Music. From 17 to 20 September, representatives of conservatoires from across Europe will gather to exchange best practices, strengthen international cooperation, and promote new opportunities for students and institutions within the Erasmus+ framework.

Representing the PNRR (NextGenerationEU) project led by the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Music in Palermo will be its advisor, Michelangelo Galeati, during the session scheduled for Friday, 19 September, entitled: “How to move students beyond Europe? The example of the PNRR Project Music4D in Palermo.” Here, M° Galeati will present the initiative developed to enhance the musical heritage of Southern Italy while simultaneously promoting innovation through advanced digital tools such as AR, VR, XR, AI, and robotics.

A key element of this vision is mobility. Through Music4D, a large-scale program of both virtual and physical exchanges is underway, with an expected impact on over 400 direct participants, including students, faculty, and staff—fostering new and lasting networks of cooperation. Building on this experience, the discussion will broaden to explore the opportunities offered by non-EU collaborations. The session will become a valuable moment of exchange between conservatoires, allowing them to share the international milestones achieved so far (Hong Kong, Tirana, Osaka, Buenos Aires), as well as practical insights and strategies on how mobility itself can enrich artistic training, research, and cultural dialogue in the performing arts sector.

In an increasingly connected era, no institution can grow on its own. It is from this awareness that the annual meeting of the AEC was born, and where the concept of MUSIC4D fits perfectly with the theme of this year’s edition: The great compass of mobility: exploration, navigation and direction in the future of internationalization. In a succession of insights and exchanges with the community, the three-day event will explore the integration of artificial intelligence into international offices, along with hands-on sessions on project writing and management. A special edition, where music also becomes a language of unity, strengthening the role of conservatories and higher institutes of music education.
