On Wednesday, June 24th, Palermo hosts the final conference of the MUSIC4D PNRR project, establishing a permanent technological infrastructure for Higher Education. From global milestones to the social mission for Niscemi, MUSIC4D defines the roadmap for the future of Italian musical innovation.
PALERMO – Wednesday, June 24, 2026, marks the transition of MUSIC4D from its implementation phase to structural management, consecrating a model of technological and methodological cooperation destined to remain a definitive reference point for the future of Higher Education in Art, Music, and Dance (AFAM). Starting at 9:30 AM, the Auditorium of the “Alessandro Scarlatti” Conservatory of Music in Palermo will host the national conference “Music4D: A Tool for the Implementation of Extended Partnerships – Paths and Strategies for the Circulation of Knowledge.” This strategic synthesis aims to showcase the results achieved during months of intense international experimentation and outline an operational roadmap for the next three years.
The proceedings will be opened by the President of the Palermo Conservatory, Giovanni Angileri, who emphasized the historical significance of the initiative: “We are proud to have led a project that successfully harnessed the opportunities offered by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). These funds served as the driving force for a structural transformation that allowed our Conservatories to achieve an unprecedented leap in technological and international quality, establishing the excellence of the Sicilian and Sardinian AFAM system as a model for the entire country.” Following institutional greetings from Director Mauro Visconti, the collective presentation of the journey will begin, featuring senior figures from the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), including Antonio Di Donato (Director General of the PNRR Mission Unit) and Michele Mazzola (Director for the Internationalization of Research).
In this high-profile setting, the management group will illustrate the milestones reached across six thematic macro-areas that defined the project’s backbone: the analysis of new extended partnerships (curated by RUP support lead Roberto Cuccia and Maestro Fabio Crescente), the evolution of the technological scenario and connectivity (presented by Valeria Seidita – UNIPA, Francesco Pupo – UNICAL, and expert Angelo Cavallaro – AC2), and the educational-scientific framework (curated by the Scientific Technical Committee composed of Michelangelo Galeati, Fabio Crescente, and Giuseppe Vasapolli). Furthermore, the operational coordinates of the Work Packages (presented by Filippo Paredes and Giovanni Faletra of Errendi) and the administrative control system and repository (managed by Renzo Turatto and Luca Celi of Concresco) will be explored, alongside the integrated communication strategy. In parallel with the plenary session, the Aula Magna will be transformed into an operational dissemination laboratory where all partners will present interactive demos and installations, allowing participants to directly engage with the deliverables and prototypes born from the research.

The project formally concludes today, but the network we have built and the infrastructure we leave behind represent a point of no return: the innovation of MUSIC4D is now an integral part of the future of music.”
The June 24th event celebrates the completion of an extraordinary journey that saw MUSIC4D inhabit the world’s most prestigious stages: from metaverse explorations with the premiere of “Furioso – Operatic Tableaux” in Palermo, to cultural diplomacy missions at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Palais des Nations in Geneva, and the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid. It has been a narrative journey capable of uniting the volcanic energy of “Vulcanica” with the symphony of myths in Vienna, extending to the recent mission in Brazil with the “Linea” project. The project never lost sight of the profound ethical value of research, which emerged powerfully through AFAM4Sicily, the solidarity marathon for the community of Niscemi, and the inauguration of the “Chamber of Music” in Catania, located in a venue reclaimed from organized crime.
In the afternoon, following the final partnership meeting to define post-project governance and the drafting of the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), the outcomes of the shared roadmap will be presented to the public. MUSIC4D thus concludes its PNRR schedule, delivering a solid and constantly evolving ecosystem to the future, ready to project the academic excellence of Southern Italy toward the challenges of global creative industries.
